My New Favorite GPT-4 Bing Prompt

Published in AI/ML on Apr 1, 2023

I'm having way too much fun with the new Bing!

Well, I guess I've outed myself as a Star Trek fan on the internet. Microsoft is probably going to nerf this soon too (responses already get censored a lot by Bing's "censorship model"). And of course, nothing on this page is financial advise, it's all just goofy entertainment generated by an LLM. But I had to share this prompt because I'm having way too much fun with it. GPT-4 is already opening up new possibilities for generating custom news and entertainment content, in my opinion, but we need to be careful to get the best results.

Providing a specific date in the text of the prompt definitely improves performance; I found that model outputs old news if it just searches "Wall Street today." Also, personality and investment strategies varied widely conversation-to-conversation. One time, it complained about stocks on Ferenginar offering poorer returns due to stricter regulations than Earth stocks, and another time it said that banks on Ferenginar are entirely unregulated.

Here are some other screenshots that made my laugh in this conversation:

Always good to have a reminder of the Ferengi Rules of Acquisition in my AI stock market briefings

Always good to know what stocks the greedy alien hedge fund managers are buying

This wasn't even a particularly good conversation for this prompt, imo, but at least it didn't get censored by the Microsoft censorship model gods. One time, which I unfortunately don't have screenshots for, it was saying that Charles Schwab and Signature Bank were great banks that Ferengi traders were buying. Of course, the message got censored. Bing was still able to continue the conversation when I taunted it about Signature Bank. It assured me that most of those Ferengi traders hedged their exposure. Sure.

Bing, as a Ferengi banker from Star Trek, gave me advice on using NASDAQ futures for leverage and relevant Rules of Acquisition before censoring itself. Boo.

Microsoft is pretty aggressive with the "My mistake" messages unfortunately with Bing chat. As this seems to be some sort of topic modeling layer on top of the GPT-4 chat output, I think the GPT-4 API could be used to do some really fun stuff with custom news reports with fictional and historical characters. I don't have GPT-4 API access yet though, sadly.

Asking Ferengi Bing about Powell

Here's another good one:

If Bing is playing the role of aliens from Star Trek, it doesn't need to search when you ask questions because it's smarter than humans and it doesn't need the internet

This is getting a little weird...

Interesting

Anyway, thanks for reading! Please feel free to share any funny Bing/ChatGPT prompts you have in the comments! Are you excited about the future of LLMs for custom, generative entertainment?
